After one day at the Missionary Training Center, I'm feeling joyful. It's hard to describe what it's like to sit in a room with about 200 other senior missionaries. Everyone is going out into the world because they love Jesus Christ. Every one made sacrifices and hard decisions in order to be there. The preparation for a mission is not for the faint of heart. There are so many elements of our lives that need to be put on hold. We had to arrange for bills to be paid, our house to be cared for (rented) . . .all the many many details to be handled so that they can be left for two years.
Jeff and I each got 12 vaccine shots over several weeks time. We had tests and exams to be sure we were fit. We gathered documents that like our seminary graduation diplomas, police records, Passports, Jeff's ordination certificate, drivers licenses, college diplomas, and one that listed both of our parents.
But gradually everything fell into place and here we are on the threshold of our RWANDA Experience. How many people are now half way around the world will become dear to us? How will we help? What will we learn?
We go with love of the Savior and the hope that we can help people come to Him, and strengthen those that are in process. We want to make life better for those that will come into our circle of influence. The next time I write, it will be from Rwanda. (unless we don't make the very tight connection in Amsterdam, in which case, I will tell you all about it. Thank you for joining us on this leap into the unknown.
